Clinical/Counseling Psychologist

The Upstate Cancer Center at SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, New York seeks to fill a position in its expanding Psychosocial Oncology program. The emphasis of the position is on the evaluation and treatment of outpatients at various stages of cancer treatment and survival. Working as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team, the psychologist will provide individual and group psychotherapy, helping patients to better manage and cope with cancer and its various effects. Additionally, there is opportunity to work with psychology graduate students and interns, and to develop potential research collaborations within the medical center and area academic community.

This position reports to the Director of the Rehabilitation Psychology Department, which includes several other psychologists and neuropsychologists who evaluate and treat patients with brain injury, chronic pain and other medical conditions. Rehabilitation Psychologists have the opportunity to join the voluntary faculty in the departments of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and Psychiatry.

Qualifications: Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical or Counseling Psychology, NYS licensed (or eligible), and excellent written and oral communication skills are required. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience, and an exceptional benefit package is offered. A background in working with cancer patients is preferred; we invite candidates with prior experience in Rehabilitation Psychology, Health Psychology, and other related areas.
