Starting Salary Range: $190,000 - $240,000/annually. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Under the direction of the Executive Director of Student Health Services, the Director of Psychiatry has primary responsibility for psychiatric care at UCSC Student Health Services sites. It is the responsibility of the Director to establish and maintain programs that provide high quality psychiatric care including psychiatric evaluations, consultations and treatment.


This position is responsible for the administration, planning, management and evaluation of psychiatry services at UCSC Student Health Services (including the training and supervision of the professional and administrative staff) and supervises psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, psychiatry case managers and other staff in psychiatry within Student Health Services.


The Director of Psychiatry provides outpatient psychiatric evaluations and treatment to students and manages psychiatric emergencies on campus, by direct intervention and by collaborating with Health Center and Counseling staff.


In performing the duties of this position, the Director of Psychiatry consults and collaborates with Student Health Services Clinicians, Counseling Psychologists and other campus administrative and academic personnel concerning psychiatric issues involving students and also works collaboratively with off campus psychiatrists and other resources to help ensure a continuum of psychiatric care for students.

WE CARE


Qualifications include:


Minimum of 5 years post residency work experience


Recent experience (within the last 5 years) working in an outpatient setting in Psychiatry


Good written and oral communication skills, including medical charting and correspondence


Excellent clinical skills and knowledge in the areas of psychiatry described above, including evaluation and treatment


Ability to work and communicate in a positive and cooperative manner in a multi-disciplinary setting
