$6721 - $9227/month for 11 months. Starting salary is based on fixed criteria including the number of years as a licensed psychologist and the type of experience.

The Licensed Psychologist, Trauma Focused reports to the Director of Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) and is assigned duties by the Director as specified herein. The Licensed Psychologist will provide high quality clinical services; community psychology/outreach and consultation services; and may provide supervision/training of doctoral interns and postdoctoral fellows.

This position is located within the CARE office (Campus Advocacy, Resources & Education), which provides advocacy to survivors of sexual violence, dating/domestic violence and stalking. This person will work closely with the CARE advocacy staff to facilitate appropriate referrals to/from counseling.

In discharging these duties the Licensed Psychologist is expected to be keenly sensitive to issues of gender, culture, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, disabilities, socio economic status etc. and to be skilled with techniques for counseling students with diverse backgrounds. All the Licensed Psychologist's activities are performed within the limits of standards and ethical principles of the California Board of Psychology, as well as applicable legal mandates for mental health professionals in the State of California.

This position requires demonstrated expertise and understanding of treatment of acute trauma, including trauma resulting from sexual assault and physical assault, as well as treatment of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Acute Stress Disorder.

Qualifications include:

  • Demonstrated clinical experience with individuals using a brief therapy model

  • Experience in facilitating psychotherapy and psychoeducational groups

  • Demonstrated strong clinical and crisis management skills

  • Experience working with survivors of interpersonal violence and trauma recovery

  • Experience designing and implementing multiculturally sensitive outreach programs and psychoeducational workshops

    Special Conditions:
  • Valid California licensure, in good standing, in Psychology OR valid out-of state licensure, in good standing, in Psychology. Out of State licensed psychologists are required to acquire California licensure within 180 days from either submitting the licensure application or beginning California residency, whichever occurs first

  • Job will require occasional working of non-traditional hours

    Selected candidate will be required to pass a pre-employment criminal history background check.

    A partial-year career appointment is established to accommodate foreseeable seasonal fluctuations in staffing, operational, or other needs and contains regularly scheduled furlough periods during which the incumbent remains an employee and retains health benefits, but is not at work. Please note that the Licensed Psychologist's furlough period is for 4 weeks in the summer (dates to be determined) and is unpaid time off
