Full Salary Range: $45.60 - $57.81/hourly. Salary commensurate with qualifications and years of experience.

Under the general direction and clinical supervision of the Director of Psychiatry, or designee, and in accordance with standardized procedures, provides specialized psychiatric nurse practitioner outpatient care, as part of Student Health Services (SHS) Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS).

The service emphasizes diagnostic evaluation and assessment, crisis intervention, supportive psychotherapy in conjunction with medication management, and consultation with other medical providers, counselors, campus administrators and staff.

This position requires advanced academic specialization and/or clinical experience in mental health on the part of the nurse practitioner.

A partial-year career appointment is established to accommodate foreseeable seasonal fluctuations in staffing, operational, or other needs and contains regularly scheduled furlough periods during which the incumbent remains an employee and retains health benefits, but is not at work. Please note that the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner's furlough period is for 4 weeks in summer (dates to be determined) and is unpaid time off.

Qualifications include:

Excellent written and oral communication skills as well as listening skills.

Demonstrated flexibility and organizational skills with ability to prioritize a high-volume workload and function independently under time pressures.

Ability to work on several tasks concurrently with frequent interruptions.

Ability to contribute to multidisciplinary team effort; carry out assignments in a responsible manner; participate in a positive and cooperative manner during staff meetings; respond well to supervision.

Ability to handle difficult, sensitive and confidential situations tactfully.

Demonstrated experience in providing culturally competent services to a diverse client population
